Agua bahini project (Rural women empowerment Project)
 

Social mobilization for community goals

This project is a joint venture of Red Cross society with DPIP Rewa, To empower rurd women with knowledge to  active following goals- 

  1. To create a concept of positive health in family and thereby in community.
  2. To obtain total sanitation at village level.
  3. To achieve universal education
  4. To empower them to recognize local needs and to search for their solution.

The selection process is very meticulous and personalized. Any women, who is vocal, is concerned about social problem, who has decision making power and who could get word done. The training is  3 day, residential, involving exposure visit to hospital services and other department. Due care is taken for skill development lives  ORS preparation.

These se women develop a network of other Agua Bahini at their village and spread message given to them by their own innovatine methods. We started this project in 2007.The results are astounding and eye opening as can be reflected through these stories- 

The “Agua Bahini” from majhiyar have already develop a network of 67 ladies at their village and 125 from neighboring villages. During a period of 6 months all deliveries has taken place P.H.C semariya. They are proud to tell that there was no infant or child death during this period. Kalawati and her team from village gadari have developed an innovative song of health messages in local language and have spread the message in neighboring villages. 

There were 2 children and 2 adult, at village known, who had blindness. When shakuntala came to  know that this is operable, she got them operated at medical college hospital. Feeling contident with her success she also helped disabled persons from her village to get appliances and physiotherapy at DDRC Rewa.
