Junior Red Cross

"HEALTH, SERVICE, FRATERNITY "

Children and adolescents also represent a substantial part of the Red Cross for its humanitarian commitment. Young volunteers can make a significant contribution in meeting the needs of the most vulnerable people within their communities through Red Cross program. This has been designed to involve young people as much as possible in the movement and its activities, not only as workers but also as beneficiaries, and as partners in management. The program focuses on the following areas:

  • Promote life and health through training and education on safety, primary health care and healthy living,
  • Encourage community service through training and education
  • Disseminate the seven fundamental principles of Red Cross and Red Crescent movement through activities that encourage the Red Cross ideals
  • Promote international friendship with activities that cultivate a humanitarian spirit,
  • Technical support in the development of youth program, fund-raising, identification of material and human resources,

Youth Red Cross

Youth represent a substantial part of the membership of Red Cross for its humanitarian commitment. Young volunteers can make a significant contribution in meeting the needs of the most vulnerable people within their local communities through Red Cross youth program. This has been designed to involve young people as much as possible in the movement and its activities not only as workers and also as beneficiaries, but as partners in management. The program focuses on the following areas:

The youth unit aims to develop young people as community leaders and equal parteners who may address  the needs of the most vulnerable.

(I.) Blood grouping and blood donation programme:-

Indian Red Cross Society, Rewa in the year 2009-2010 registered a group of blood donors was provide blood to the needy persons in emergency.

With the co-operation of colleges and schools administration we have organized various blood groping camps.

(III.) Basic life support training:- 

Indian Red Cross Society has completed another year for a special program "Basic Life Support" training for providing artificial respiration and cardiac massage to students, teachers and volunteers, to deal with any casualty in accident, drowning, heart attacks etc. Basic life support training is being provided by national level PALS provider.

District Disability Rehabilitation Center
Success Story  :

Pandit Badri Prasad Tiwari is 56 years old whose right leg has been amputated in an accident. Some period after the accident he realised that his position in family and society has gone down perceptibly. from a bread earner, he has been reduced to a dependent.

Later he come to DDRC Rewa, where our engineer Mukul kishor made a beautiful prosthetics for him that made him not only walk but ride a cycle and go up and down stairs. This has made him independent , and improved his self image and prestige. He is so nicely rehabilitated that no one was able to judge his disability, when he came and garlanded the local MLA Sh. Rajendra Shukla at a function.

DDRC has been conceived as fitment centre by Dr. Sajjan Singh in year 1992. The activities are continuing since then. In 2002 full-fledged DDRC was inaugurated with its own building.

District Disability Rehabilitation Center is an institution of Ministry of Social justice and empowerment Government of India. In Rewa  D.D.R.C. is being operated by Red Cross Society.

D.D.R.C. Rewa has a  team of devoted technical persons and volunteers from Red Cross Society Rewa, Who are offering services to disabled / handicapped persons in every possible way. The controlling body is district management team, whose chairman is Collector  and Secretary is The Secretary of Red Cross Society.
